It's been discussed in several threads on here before. Like Grey's Anatomy, it was more soap opera than anything else (although I never took note of anyone putting a stethoscope in backwards like they do ALL THE TIME on Grey's). Trauma took liberal creative license with reality, and only really showed what we might consider realistic calls/days when it suited them - usually to illustrate boredom or provide a 'quiet' call where the characters could continue their discussions about who was sleeping with who. Otherwise, it was all snipers/explosions/sinking ships all the time. Here and there you could catch some snippets of real medicine, but obviously that wasn't the focus. It was kind of the opposite of Law & Order - for years, L&O kept the personal lives of the characters almost completely off the show, to focus on the 9-to-5 aspects of making/trying a case. Trauma seemed like it would have liked to keep the job (and really, they could have just as easily been cops, firefighters, doctors, or even casino dealers, and the show wouldn't have changed overly much) off the show as much as possible, except when they needed some good footage for the "Next week on Trauma" teasers. Nothing like a good old "Don't you die on me!"
You're better off finding Mother, Jugs, and Speed or Bringing Out the Dead.
