I wonder if things are a lot easier if your a Paramedic in terms of getting a job?
I have been reserve Healthcare Specialist with the Army for several years now working in a non-medical unit. I go into the IRR soon which means I don't have any part time military duty when this happens. I have been working full time in a hospital but not in an EMT position. Driving record I have had a suspended license, been in three car accidents (one my fault, one their fault, one word-vs-word) and a bunch of tickets.
EMT-B jobs seem very hard to come by. I have been searching in a few states, international jobs, cruise ships, and even USA Jobs. It seems really difficult to get an EMT-B job. If there are jobs, they want Paramedics. I look at Paramedic school and it's a minimum of $4,000 at my local college and probably 2 years of commitment. So i'm wondering how much a Paramedic license affects things. Also, with my less than desirable driving background - how much do you think that affects my chances EMT-B and P wise?
