Does anyone know of any studies for how long someone can go with low blood sugar before there is permanet damage.I bring this up because of a run I had one time.The pts.family report that he had started acting funny around 6am that morning.It was 1015am when we got dispatched.In the end pt. made full recovery.Thanks

Basically, it is dependent upon the persons age, metabolism, weight, degree of insulin produced, etc. As well, many studies have demonstrated various of degrees of damage to permanent damage r/t hypoglycemia episodes. Remember, glucose is needed for cell metabolism and especially a carrier for oxygen molecule to brain tissue.
