What are y'all spending for these boots?
GI combats. Get a shoe repair guy to put in a side zipper if you need it, but if it's the model that is basically waterproof, you just put a screen door on it. One pair only lasted two years, but that was because we were wading in sodium thiosulphate (photo fixer) and it ate up the glue.
No matter the brand, if they are real leather, treat the leather often and properly. Follow manufacturer's suggestions. Resist wipe or spray on polishes.
Working civilian ambo, I wore my hated "chukka boots" from Basic Training; worked out well.
