Things I've Learned This Week

1. Suicide by Chainsaw to the throat is not only messy, but quite effective.

2. One Person CPR SUCKS...is the WORST....is a spectacular workout....is made worse when the patient won't pick a rhythm and stick with it...NOOO, now he needs to be defibed as well.

3. Fire Fighters have a certain level of ego. Paramedics have a certain level of ego. A cop has a certain level of ego. Therefore, when you combine them in any combo of 2 or all three you MIGHT create a force not even God himself would want to mess with....Oh, but I cannot help "poke with a stick" so to speak.

4. 0400 trips to the Gym get easier with time. I'm not sure how much time. It's what I keep getting told. I hope its true....but as long as my pants are getting baggier, I'll keep dragging my butt outta bed at 0400.

5. The heat generated from a television is not enough to keep General Tso's Chicken "good" when you get back to it 7 hours later. It may taste "okay" when your eating....it does not "re-taste" well.

6. Doing multiple long distance transfers, totaling over 1000 miles in 3 days is probably something to think twice about.

#1 almost made suicide awesome. Well, not for you, family, friends, or bystanders, but at least it's less pathetic and more interesting than a Tylenol OD.

#5: As someone who is stupid enough to aspire to an MD/MPH and possibly a job in infection control, I should mention that leaving food, especially Chinese takeout, warm for 7 hours cannot possibly be good.

So....#1....apparently, he meant business. Call came out as Cardiac Arrest, wife states pt is hanging in shed. He wasn't hanging. He had used his chainsaw to cut his throat. What made it worse is there were 2 distinct cuts.

At what point, as a person is about to cut his own throat, does the guy think to himself... "DUDE, this is gonna hurt!"

Well he was in cardiac arrest and I'm sure some of him was hanging in the shed. Talk about being serious about doing youself in.
