The write stuff: Hospitals resort to penmanship classes for doctors

ATLANTIC CITY, New Jersey (AP) -- He's a veteran physician who works as a trauma surgeon. Just don't ask Dr. Sheldon Brotman to write a legible prescription.

That's why he's here, sitting in a handwriting class at Atlantic City Medical Center, learning how to hold his pen, position his paper and put a sharp angle on his "z" so it doesn't look like an "s."

 i love it.

I was always told that I would have made a bad doctor because my handwriting was too neat.

There Is A God!!!!! Halleujah!!!!!

I went to school to be a Dr. and got kicked out because my handwriting was too BAD!

I love it! I got to tell you folks, at the old hospital where I worked before I left had just got a computer program that REQUIRED all of the M.D.s to type all of their orders!!! and you know that some of those guys complained because "what is wrong with my writing!"

This goes along with the same reason JCAHO, will no longer allow the abbreviations of M.S., cc, Q.D. etc.. Too many errors were made from poor hand writing, I know I have been accused of being too much like a physician on my paper work and have been desperately to change things... I now print everything...

Same here Rid, I have written in cursive my entire life, and now I find that it is too messy for reports that others have to read. But the problem when I try to print is that it looks like a 6 year old wrote it....

i always print....any other way i'll get owned the next day.
