not really sure where this would go, but I will be testing in January for a volunteer firefighter position with the Washougal FD and possibly Scappoose FD. I am not quite sure what the actual test entails. Could someone point me toward a link/info that breaks down testing standards for fire departments? Much appreciated!

Well chances are you'll be doing the CPAT which is not bad at all. They may have some other physical tests for you.
An written test may be in order as well.

Ha! Testing for volunteers that's a good one!

If we put in fitness or aptitude standards where I volunteer we would go from 120 members down to 10.

We take what we can get, which is next to nobody...

If they use the CPAT, go on YouTube and search candidate physical ability test. It's very simple I just did one a week or two back.

I had that before I could get my marriage license.

It might be worth a phone call to the respective fire companies to ask about the testing process.

This is worth repeating...Call them. I'd be surprised if it is anything really major, because most volly fire departments can't afford to turn people away.

Really depends on location. I don't know how it is in WA but in SoCal at our department we receive hundreds of applications a month. I know it's massively over saturated here but thought it was worth mentioning.
