Ok. So I went to the dentist today for a pretty bad toothache. Guess what... I'm now missing half my wisdom teeth. And on APAP+Codine (Tylenol #3 for you non-medical folks - nevermind). And drooling out the left side of my mouth (I'm still REALLLY numb).

And not really in pain. But having to pay more attention to my spelling.

And I'm not working tonight. Or tommorrow. My next time on a rig with be at the vollie squad on Saterday. I hope.

Maybe I'll see a movie tomorrow. If I feel like doing anything. It's been a while since I've had a day off.

Anyhoo... time to go sit and read my new Steve Berry Book.

Jon

Sorry to hear about the wisdom teeth. I had all 4 of mine pulled the week before Thanksgiving my senior year of HS. Made for a somewhat depressing Turkey Day...at least I could eat some solid stuff by then.

Go see Revenge of the Sith, unless the line's too long. I'd like to see it this weekend, but I'm on duty, so I'll have to wait 'til next.

Take care.

Yeah, I had all 4 of mine out right before my 22nd birthday... no birthday cake for me. :(

I still have all mine. Perhaps thats because I'm just still very young. :P
But they're laying sideways. So when they do start to move, its gonna hurt.

And tell us, if you will...

How is any of that different than a normal day for you???

I'm happy to hear you're not in too much pain, I hope you have a quick recovery! I still need to have mine pulled out :(

We should have a little section for those of us stuck at home on pain killers.. B)

When I had my wisdom teeth pulled it was just a disaster... The doc decided to do all four at the same time, even though I was only scheduled for one. The sutures wouldn't hold at first, so I can only guess that the blood was just pumping out. I figured this because it soaked through the little bib and stained my t-shirt in several areas.

The nurse infiltrated the vein and pumped versed out under the skin, so my veins were hard for about a year.

When I woke up I swore I was being attacked by birds my mother said, and I was flailing my arms around. Then I couldn't stand up.. Finally I was assisted to leave the office, and couldn't walk straight. Had to pull over on the way home because all the blood I swallowed made me sick. My mouth was packed with kerlix because the stitches wouldn't hold... yech... big mess. Then I took the endocet he gave me for pain, and I slept for 20 some hours, he said he had to yank on the teeth to get them to pop out, no wonder my jaw hurt so bad. Couldn't eat solids for two weeks. Makes me shutter to think about it now.

My mom said I was a bad druggie... because when I came to I was very upset that I wasn't in total control of my body and mind (I'm a control freak like that :P). It was also reported that I very longingly and pathetically said "oh, Dunkin Donuts" as we drove past the DD on the way to the pharmacy... ;)

Ok. I've haven't had any medications since this morning. I just got home from seeing the "Hitchikers Guide" movie. I'm feeling much better. I ate a bagel this afternoon. I'm not just doing applesauce and pudding....

Thanks for the good thoughts.

I absolutely hate the dentist, some ridiculous irrational fear. Big hug for you Jon and a silent thanks that you had to see the evil dentist monster and I didnt! :P :D

My wisdom teeth are coming in sideways too... and it hurts sooo bad. It's like every couple weeks I will be in so much pain. I have a referral to an oral surgeon, but I dont really want to go have it done because I know it's gonna hurt. I have never liked teeth things. I even hated losing my teeth when I was a kid.

Somebody call the WAAAAhm-bulance.

You'll be much better off when it's done though.

Just for this thread, you can all forget getting an EMTLife discount once I become a dentist.

you only got t3's??? i feel sorry for you. when i had mine done i was prescribed an ungodly amt of vicodin. course mine were so badly impacted that, after seeing my x-rays, the dentist recommended i have them out that day. she even called over to the oral surgeon to make sure he could fit me in, like right then. needless to say they were very tough to get out. lots of trauma(hence the vicodin)

couldnt eat soliud foods for two weeks. couldnt work(dont think the dot would have liked that, besides i could barely walk much less tech). spent my days watching television eating pudding and hallucinating(sp?) every manner of things.(hey, the label says take 1-2 ever four hours. dont blame me for taking both of em)

Ha-ha....I got Oxycontin when I had my wisdom teeth out. I think the doctor screwed up because I was in that much pain (I was eating solid food that night- yes I know better, but oh well). I woke up the next morning in a great deal of pain (that's what I get for eating) and took an Oxycontin and spent the rest of the day on my back watching the ceiling rotate while the fan was standing still.

Getting my wisdom teeth cut out was fun. All four were so badly impacted that two different doctors warned my folks that I might lose all sensation in my lower lip. I had my surgery scheduled for the day after Christmas (happy happy, joy joy) after the surgery was done with, I looked like I had been beaten in the face with a sock full of nickels. My cheeks were all puffed out like a chipmunk, I had bruises all over my face and I wasn't fully aware of everything due to being fully knocked out for the surgery. But I got Vicodin. I spent the next 2 weeks on my parents' loveseat, eating every flavor of Jell-O imaginable, high on Vicodin and watching war movies.

I have that for my back injury... In fact I took one this morning, and another about two hours ago. But I can only take 1/3 of the pill or I get "loopy". Even more than normal.

Tonight I took a whole pill b/c that old sciatic nerve is really gettin pinched now, could barely stand up. Everything had a green glow around it, and I feel like I'm hanging from the ceiling looking down. This is a real problem when I stand up, because I want to fall right over forward.

It's cool. :P

Ok. I'm feeling a lot better. I'm only using motrin now. My dentist did the procedure, and they came out intact. Apparently I had chipped my Left lower tooth, and had a cavity enlarged, causing my root to apparenly be exposed. The dentist looked at me as if I was crazy, saying it was a dull pain the "showed up" in the afternoon. - never bothered me before about 2pm....Then it could get bad...

I've got two holes in the left side of my mouth. I had almost no bleeding problems, and just have to be very careful about getting food caught.

As for food, I'm eating most stuff now, staying away from small particles that could get caught in the wounds.

I'm not looking foward to the other side coming out... I'll have to schedule that soon, I guess...

I rode the rig last night... long night, no sleep. Came home very unhappy, not really worse than usual though.
