Hi all,

I currently hold a NYS Emt-B Cert, and am thinking of moving to Pennsylvania. There's lots of information on the internet on courses in PA, but I just can't seem to find exactly what I'm looking for. Do I need to take the NREMT? Can I somehow utilize, convert or transfer my certification to PA? Do I have to take a months long course in PA, and if I do is it as an original or a refresher? Any advice (or links) anyone can give would be greatly appreciated.

PA is a NREMT state. Reciprocity may be granted on the basis of National Registry status. If you have your NREMT you will be fine. Your NYS Emt-B Cert won't transfer as far as I know.

I've been getting conflicting information. I've heard that they do reciprocity if I show them my EMT-B certificate (or even a copy of it) from NYS. I do not have my NREMT, but will look into it.

I'm a NYS certified EMT I'm looking to get reciprocity in Texas. Anyone know the process for that? I saw the form they want filled out (Out of State Verification Form A) but it seems confusing as it wants NYS to fill parts of it out and I have no idea where to even start with that.

Hmmm, ask a bunch of random people how to fill out a confusing form, getting several possibly incorrect answers, or call the Texas Regulatory Licensing Unit EMS Certification & Licensing Group at (512) 834-6700, and get an authoritative answer to any questions you might have.... hmmmmm, what should you do......

BTW, that phone number is located on page 2 of the form that you already downloaded.....

The chance they'll actually answer that phone call is lower then someone on this forum who actually went through this process and can help me through it
 
Out of all the times I called, they answered 100% of the time, and I was able to speak to a live person.

Stop being lazy and stop making excuses.

As pessimistic as I am about government employees, I have found that most state EMS offices are relatively easy to deal with. I hold EMS licenses in 4 states, and I have never had a problem dealing with any EMS offices. Just call like a normal person would, and they answer the phone and tell you what you need to do.
In my state I have an easier time with the EMS office than I do with the Motor Vehicle devision.

Just happened to have attended an ALS skills review today and ran into the President of the regional EMS council. He told me that PA only does reciprocity via the NREMT certification since 2016. Hope this helps.
