I applaud any local EMS that wants to do standby at a local sporting event. But research it and learn about it. There is a lot of different things to look at in Sports Medicine. That is why it is a specialty!

+1. People that specialize in Sports Med work within a closed medical system. If they're calling you, it's because they need someone transported.

Yeah. Both my work and volly companies do sports standbys. And at all of them, the general rules is that we only treat the spectators. If an athlete goes down, unless it's clear that its serious or there's blood everywhere, we don't move until we get "the wave".
