I suppose it's only natural since EMS has people that become FF, but has anyone else noticed a huge number of people that are now obsessed with being on a "tactical" EMS team? My favorites are the ones that a) suck at their job in the first place, and b) kiss cop ***. What's this all about?

Maybe people want to do another portion of EMS that interest them aside from just transporting in an ambulance?

Oh, right, that's not allowed. My bad.

I mean the ones that think the only part of the job that matters is "special ops", and anyone not wearing a gun, camo, or tac-black is somehow beneath them.

So, people aren't allowed to like a specific zone of their chosen career?

What about those that want to do EMS research and never want to step foot in an ambulance for IFTs?

What about those that want to do rural medicine and hate urban?

What about those that want to be oil rig medics and never want to be a hospital tech?

You don't hold the same contempt towards them as you do people that want to do TEMS?

Fine, take out contempt and put in any word you'd like from a thesaurus: Question still stands.

I had a feeling when I joined this board I'd encounter someone like you...

Liking your work on the response Linc :D

My two cent is as follows

If your going to JUDGE someone it's a good idea to have walked a mile in their shoes first ........

That way when you CRITCISE them your a mile away and they are bare footed !!

Point being each to their own. It's what make the world that little bit more interesting. Anyway if these TEMS wanna be's didn't do their thing you'd probably be giving out that their in your space and there is now TOO many if us in one area of EMS:cool:

I'm out of this one guys. Looks like it's heatin up in here.

Relax a little and it could make a good thread

Joules, I hear you, but my experience is usually it is the other way around. Firefighters were forced at first to become EMT's. And Law Enforcement officers go for the EMT then tactical whatever because it makes sense to them. Sometimes we have a rogue who wants to run with the big dogs, their lookout.

What I'm talking about are medics who are usually mediocre, who secretly harbor a desire to be in a cruiser, who play with cops. They are unarmed (at least they won't admit to carrying) and are so obsessed by their "additional duty" as a tactical medic that very little else matters.

I'm a Paramedic. Have been for 2 years. I've wanted to be a LEO since I was 6. Many forumers here know me personally and would vouch that I'm not "mediocre", but my desire to be a TEMS medic, nor a police officer, are secret.

I'm just trying to figure out your hatred for them, when you don't make threads about the other ones I posted (oil rig, etc). Do you harbor some dislike towards police officers that you're now curtailing towards EMS workers who want to be involved in the LE side as well?

Ok, I don't make sense now?

I have been an EMT for over 20 years, a Paramedic for 12 of those. My resume includes Flight Medicine, ICU Medicine, Firefighting and Technical Rescue.

My beef is with people who cheapen the title of Paramedic by only seeking glory positions, or thinking that TEMS is somehow more important than running a code on the 75 year old who was non-compliant with their Lasix.

I didn't say "contempt" or "hatred". YOU did.
