I think I did good. I think.
I didn't get any retests. I had spinal immobilization first, then splinting, then CPR, then assessments.
The only blunder I made that I both know was a blunder and am aware that I made it was I forgot to take BS/LS on a patient in a trauma scenario. Pt had cushings triad and a head injury, and was breathing 12 breaths a minute.
The examiner entertained my idea to hyperventilate the patient but kind of suggested that I just let it go on record as having kept the pt on an NRB saying I should "consult with ALS about that to keep it safe". I honestly think she passed me because she was very pleasant to me during both my assessments.
Other than that I really can't think of anything I'm aware I did wrong. I'm quite certain I hit all of the bases with CPR, splinting and backboard. I administered Epi to a pt with a tongue that was swelling up (but not obstructing airway) from a possible bee sting for my med assessment, patient had a history of high blood pressure, wasn't taking medication and their systolic BP was around 100, so I figured it was appropriate considering possible airway compromise, and other signs of allergic reaction. (They also had a script for epi but forgot where they put their epi)
The only thing that bothered me, is quite a few people who I know are good had retests. I wonder if I lucked out, or if I totally blundered it. My gut instinct is that I did everything right other than missing lung sounds.
So, does anyone know if missing BS/LS is grounds for a fail for something like this?
All in all I feel like the Boston University EMT class was probably the best I could take to prepare me for this regardless. I was confident in my knowledge, but I was and still am merely very nervous.
Keep in mind my practical was an MA practical.
Any input that might calm me down while I painfully await my results would be amazing.
Thanks.
