Hey EMTLife folks,

I'm obviously new around here and just wanted to ask what any of you thought about working for PMT Ambulance (a rural/metro company) here in Arizona. The reason I ask is because I'm freshly out of EMT school and they recently offered me a job as a full time EMT-B. All of the reviews I've read online seem to talk badly about the company even going as far as to say "run while you still can". So I'm kinda worried I'll be making a bad decision in quitting my current job (non EMS related) to work for PMT. I keep telling myself that obviously the people who hate their job are the ones writing the reviews but I still have my doubts.

Does anyone have any experience with this company or can you guys help me in making a decision? I know I need the job experience to make it anywhere in the EMS field, but would it be worth it?

Thanks.

I cannot speak specifically about PMT, but I believe most ambulance companies are kinda shady and kinda suck to work for.

Nice. Any recommendations of places I should look?

as Aprz put it, yes most are shady to work for. as for Rural/metro or any of its affiliates the don't really care for their employees much and are also in chapter 11 bankruptcy as we speak. its your first job as an emt bro. you need to get some experience under your belt. try to stay part time at your current job if they will let you so you can feel it out and see how you like it. everyone has their own opinion but you should make your own opinions and not listen to what other people say. try to speak with people who are currently employed there.

Where are you located. Arizona EMS is mostly fire based if I'm not mistaken.

Do you want to work in EMS or do you want to continue your thin now? EMS jobs aren't always easy to come by and if you want into the field I'd personally jump on any opportunity that was afforded to me. People always say "they want experience but I can't get any cause everyone requires it." Well...here's your chance to start getting that experience.

Thanks JimmyUp. I was hoping that by posting here i would find someone who has some experience with them. Should I really be worried about the bankruptcy at all?

I'm located in Phoenix but the position is based out of Mesa, Az. I really want/need the experience. If anything at least I would get that out of it. I hope to eventually get into the fire service in another state.
