Hey Everyone,
I took the Massachusetts practical exam and am wondering if I failed. On CPR I couldn't get the bag to inflate, and the examiner got annoyed and told me I had the tubing in the wrong place, then on splinting I tied the cravats on the outside of the arm instead of under. Yes I know I am stupid and am killing myself. My friend who was my patient looked over the sheets from the state and is telling me that those things aren't critical failures but I think they are, so I am hoping some of you kind people out there will tell me what you all think. I am really upset with myself and want to find a rock to live under for the next 50 years..... Thanks very much

don't beat yourself up over it, I'll try to find my sheets from last fall and upload them

Doesn't/shouldn't matter where the cravats are tied, according to the sheet.

I'd be worried about the CPR, though. There are two critical fails they could possibly stick you with:

"BVM not correctly prepared and functional with appropriate O2 flow rate at time of application to patient"

"did not deliver effective ventilations using BVM."

"Prepares BVM correctly" is worth a point, but you only need 19/27 points to pass. As long as the BVM was inflated when you went to do breaths I think you're probably okay even if the examiner had to show you exactly how to prepare the BVM.

Oh thank you both so much! I friggin killed myself studying and that is why I am so horrified by my mistakes. I know it's not the end of the world if I failed.
But it's just that it means so much to me, more than anything I've ever done. I really thank you so much for replying to this thread. I can just re-take the exam again if I did fail, but how incredibly sucky. 175 bucks, and the time, the dragging time. Also I heard PSI isn't doing the exams anymore so I wonder what the hell I will be in store for. Oh well, gotta take it like a man!!!!! You rule,

Roxy
