So I told a little white lie to get signed up on here. I'll just cut to the chase. I'm a Foreman for a dirt company and my girlfriend, soon to be fiancé (she doesn't know this yet) is an emt, going to school to be a paramedic, she's been working now for about a year. She has to supply her own uniforms and shoes. I bought her a pair of UA boots she wanted. I ask her all the time what she would like or need, fishing for gift ideas, she leaves me blank. Aside from necklace pendents i dont know what to get her. I don't know what she needs for work. So my question for you all is this. What is something you all have bought that makes life easier? Say a tool or something that you reach for daily that you would look at and say "idk what I did before I had this." One of her girlfriends is an RN and gave her a set of what I'm going to call scissors, they are supposed to be indestructible ect...that's prolly not the name of them but any help would be appreciated! Thank you all for what you do!

Concurring with @DEmedic , a nice stethoscope goes a long way. No need to be expensive about it; the Littman Lightweight II SE is a "nice" stethoscope. Or the MDF equivalent, though I prefer Littmann.

Just going to throw out earrings and tablet/Kindle/Nook as ideas.

The only real variables due to uniform are

-stethyscope
-trauma scissors
-boots
-belt

or for downtime (sitting around waiting for a call)
-charging ports/cables for phone
-tons of movies/movie access via phone
-ipad type thing/kindle

Some girly things that I love:

Headbands - the kind with the rubber on the bottom to keep them in place. I don't want to be worried about my hair falling in my face.
A fun coffee mug - Get a unique one. The last thing I want is someone grabbing my mug by mistake.

Other things:

I'd love and IPad Pro - It's bigger but oh so nice.
If she has a nice Stethoscope already you could always get it engraved with her initials.
Boots are always a nice practical idea.
A First Responder Kit for her personal vehicle?

How about just get her something not EMS related. Most women who work EMS would probably prefer just a nice thoughtful gift that wasn't work related, like a spa day or something.

Yeah.. theyre all kinda crappy too. Seen alot of medics who swear by them. Theyre good for stable transports. As counsel, I'd avise against them on an unstable/low GCS patients.

If I had money I could spend freely like that the last thing I would buy would be something for work.

If your service fails to provide you with proper equipment any you have to carry your own, you should consider leaving that service.

Having a 100% dependency on your service to provide you with everything you need for work, plus expecting them to have everything ready for you at any time, is a very scary thought.

Op should get her a decently stocked aid bag. Whether she keeps it in her trunk of where ever. You can find them at military surplus stores.

Im still set on gym membership.
