PEEP Endorsment

Is anyone able to tell me what the PEEP endorsement / certification is or stands for? I've googled it a few times but I'm having no luck finding what it actually means and offers other than it seems to be an option other than having PALS so I'm assuming it's pediatric related.
 
You're thinking of PEPP, or Pediatric Education for Prehospital Professionals.

It's like PALS, but while PALS tends to be more peri-arrest oriented, PEPP goes in to other situations with peds as well that you'll run in to in the prehospital environment such as trauma and other medical emergencies that aren't "OH MY GOD THEY'RE DYING!!!"


I like PEPP more, but have both.

PEEP is positive end expiratory pressure. Boooo vents.

I've also had PEPP and PALS. Both are are good to have. Why? One is geared towards helping you figure out when a child is "sick" and the other is geared towards what to do in the periarrest environment. If all you're required to have is PALS, try to take PEPP too. Yes it's another couple hundred bucks, but it'll be another set of assessment tools you can use. Oh, and if you don't take PEPP, not to worry... you can learn the basics on your own. Like any course, it just puts the info all in one place & time.
 
We just covered PEPP last week in our medic class. Wasn't too hard, our instructor said PALS would be much harder.

Thanks Linuss, I was looking at applying with a local county hospital and one of there requirements were having PALS and or PEEP. That explains why I was having trouble finding info on it ...bad typo to have I'd think.

From what I've seen in the replies it's something I'd like to see out and obtain any additional assessment tools with peds is a big plus in my book. Is it a 2 year or 4 year certification period?

It looks like you're still not getting the correct spelling. Its PEPP not PEEP...

Dan I don't believe you read my reply correctly... I'm pointing out where / how I miss read it while job searching a local opening and how they had it listed. I under it's PEPP now.
