Unfortunate, but reality is that a ship to ship transfer at sea is a dangerous undertaking.

The news agency I think did a good job at portraying this as a rescue, which is indeed what it really is.

If she actually had serious internal bleeding, she is probably lucky she has made it as far as she has.


My dark humor of course would play it off as inducing theraputic hypothermia ;)
 
It seems like it would have been prudent to have had a safety line attached to the litter for the transfer, or some other back up system besides the hands of those carrying her.
 
Back when I worked the Bering Sea we often placed people in the frigid waters. :blink:
