Paramedics For ukraine

Understood. That's why I mentioned "or other U.S. Government positions."

Agreed, but that is vastly different from enlisting in military.

I know some of you know this information. I still like to post for those who haven't delved outside of Domestic Assignments.

Some Contract Work is very similar and the work the same;

You're on a Contract for a specific period of time, (sometimes guaranteed by a type of tour completion bonus etc).
You report to and are supervised by a person of Military Rank through a Military Chain of Command.
You command a Rank and are required to following and abide by the Command's Standing Orders and are in the Op Excrement working alongside U.S. Servicemen/Women.

Most of the time, as a Non-Government Employee Contractor you don't have the luxury of;

1) Disability and Long Term Health Care, (i.e. VA Benefits);
2) Disability Retirement;
3) Subsidies, (such as Housing, Medical Ins, Food etc);
4) Transportation to/from the foreign work site;
5) You have almost no U.S. Diplomatic Protection in the event Foreign Authorities bring an accusation of violating local laws, (or detain you in a Conflict Zone).

The upside is that most foreign contact work is temporary, highly paid and very little tax liability incurred at the end of the year.

I am too old to join the Military, the Military has an age cut off. I beleive 35 YOA with no prior service and 42 with prior service. I also have no interest in a 4 year long commitement. I don't keep cars that long. That in no way means that under hte right terms and conditions that I should not be able to go and participate in one role or another.

What job are you entitled to? It’s a WAR zone. They don’t need one month war tourists.

If you are looking for NGO Volunteer opportunities, Team Rubicon International was requested by the Ukraine Ministry of Health to provide teams on the ground in various locations including Lviv. They accept Doctors, Nurses, Paramedics, AEMT. Upon passing their 5 day selection course you become eligible for their 14 day deployments.

It depends what your background is: we have a Colonel/doctor who joined the Army at 55; and went straight to Colonel. As long as you can pass OTC. Doubt medics would get in though

I went early April 2022. My DD214, certs and CV in hand. I luckily scored a PMC contract as a critical care paramedic. Spent two months there, had an awesome time. Then NGOs took over and “per diem.” Left early June 2023 after two months and miss there, but have twin boys that want to have a dad…

I lucked into a contract then. That’s a lot harder to do now.

Early April 2022 I went. I was expecting to do a more dynamic job as a specific kind of veteran. I found a few PMCs and a government dude with a list of “unmet need” and took a 30 day contract. Mostly did kyiv-Lyiv critical care transfers, occasionally on to the Poland border. Every time at the border the medic/nurse looked in the back of the rig and Noped out of that. Blood, multiple IVs, chest tubes, etc… had an escort to a hospital in Poland. Extended a second month, was told they were ending the contract after the third month but we all left after 60 days. Many NGOs took over. Sorry, my twin boys veto’d working there on a per-diem instead of my $1250/day contract. Came under fire twice, returned fire once.
