Just wondering what paramedic school is like? Is it fun, is it boring? That kind of thing and how difficult was it to learn all the drugs and patho/phys? Any input would be awesome.

Difficulty is relative, just as is your definition of fun. Some people find it easy and enjoyable, while others will find it incredibly difficult and torturous.

You'll learn quite a bit, and it will require a fair time commitment. Be studious and learn as much as you can. It is certainly very doable.

Every school does things different. So the beat answer to your question is yes. And you get out what you put in.

Paramedic school is really just like riding a bike.
Except the bikes on fire. And you're on fire. And everything's on fire. And you're in hell.
I've got 5 more weeks to go, and I'm about ready to curl up in the corner and cry.
Enjoy.

It really wasn't that hard lol looking back it was stressful, but if my time management skills were a little better; I wouldn't have had such an issue.

Now nursing school on the other hand...

I'm currently looking for a bridge to jump off of.

I have a bridge you can use! I just built it over the river you cried! :p I kid I kid... I have nothing useful to add to this conversation, carry on.

I didn't find paramedic school to be difficult at all. O-chem, on the other hand...

The majority of it is simple rote memorization and skills practice. If you have a decent base knowledge of A&P, bio, math and English and have decent study habits you'll have no difficulty.

I enjoy most of it. My only real gripe is the amount of redundant documentation we have to do. But that goes for the job as well...

Medic school (and nursing School) is like anything else; easy or hard depends what you make of it.
I have friends that after doing Medic school they decided nothing else could be harder; so they went on to medical school. A couple of good doctors came out of it.
People have asked me how I worked and did medic school, cause they were having such a hard time working PT and doing medic school. I told them I had no idea how it could be hard to work PT cause I did it working on average of 80 hours a week: 24-36 at Fire Department that paid for medic school, and 48+ at FT job

You oftentimes meet lifelong friends in paramedic school. My class still hangs out together. Than being said, if your class has good people in it, paramedic school is the most fun you will have in your life that you NEVER want to do again.

I didn't find the material of paramedic school hard, it was simply the hours that were hard. The first half of school was a breeze for me, but then I felt like I didn't sleep for four months. The last month was really hard because a lot of other people failed out left and right, and while I didn't find it hard, they sure did and it left me with a lot of anxiety that maybe I was missing something going into my NREMT-P test...but I was perfectly fine.

If you can balance the hours appropriately, and you stay on track studying, and quit worrying about how others are doing...you'll be fine.

In the end, accept that some people just aren't cut out to be a paramedic...or an accountant or teacher or chef, etc...if school's for you, then you'll have fun in some parts, be fascinated in other parts and dig really deep for the few moments when you haven't slept or can't quite grip a concept.

Every program does it differently, but yes the stress level is out of control. It was really intense the first few semesters, weeding out the people who weren't really serious about it. Prepare to make school your priority. I work FT in an emergency room and if I am scheduled on a day I have school I have to sacrifice my (figuratively) unborn child to have someone cover my shift. I am exhausted, and have learned how to function on 5 hours of sleep. I will work four 12 hour shifts, go home each night and study for about 2-3 hours. I try to study any time I can. Flashcards, books, notebooks, binders, to-do lists scattered everywhere.

At first it's a bunch of studying and self doubt - nothing really made sense to me but as we progressed I fell in love with pathophysiology, and grew extreme hate for pharm. The further you get into the program, things start to fall into place and make sense. My program is quite intense and we go above and beyond the minimum requirements for state/national.

It's definitely not for everyone... you HAVE to be 100% dedicated. I thought I knew what I was getting into but boy was I wrong. I would never ever do this again.

What others have said - Worry about YOU and you alone.

HAVE FUN.......!
