Hello
I was wondering how much paramedics make an hour in California?

Thanks

13$ an hour in San Diego.

just curious how quickly do medics get picked up by better agencies in southern california aka fire.

I have some medic friends who have been on wait lists for almost 2 years.

If you don't have a way in (aka connections, friends in high places) then it can take a while.

Pay can range from $12 to $40 an hour from what I have seen. The mode pay would be about $14 for the most common private IFT medic.

Close to the same pay range that I have seen. It seems as if most private companies are around the $13-$17 per hour range. Fire department is normally around $30-$50 per hour.

That's a whole different thread or even forum. Guys tend to go for years and years of applying before they get hired. I know of one person who became a firefighter mainly to be a paramedic....but that doesn't usually make sense (unless you actually want to be a firefighter). It's a whole different career than paramedic, even though departments do combine them. In SoCal it's very rare to find single function medics (medics only) working for FD.

so i make more as a er tech with being a emt-basic then i would out in the field as a paramedic.

Yep. Unless you go Fire.
