Over the summer I took a CFR training, and I came out with a small (wallet size) Card saying I took the OSHA/ASHI CFR Training.

Does this now mean I'm cert. as a CFR?

Are you able to work as a CFR with FR/EMS?

And/or any additional information.

Thank you in advanced.

I don't know of any state that accepts ASHI/AHA/Red Cross first responder training as an acceptable means to participate in EMS.

ASHI?

I am unsure about states accepting CFR, but a lot of employers require it. I've worked with a lot of law enforcement groups that require all employees to be CFRs. One required them all to be NR certified every 2 years.

In Alaska to be a first responder (ETT - Emergency Trauma Technician) you are required to pass both written and practical exams. The practicals are similar to NREMT practicals just not graded as critical. The state then issues you a card. You must also take and pass a Provider Level CPR/AED course.

Not much opportunity for paid employment here for ETTs with so many EMTs looking for work.

ASHI - American Safety and Health Institute.
OSHA - Occupational Safety and Health Administration.

I would like to (if I am able to with this) get my "foot in the door" with my local volunteer Ambulance Corps. along with the local Fire Rescue company.

Per my age, I can only work under a CFR title. If I was able to work under a EMT title I would.

Another question I have now, Because of this course I took, would I be able to take a Practical / Written test for NREMT without taking another course?
