I am on shift until tonight.
There is a 100K Bike ride today, through the more rural regions of my county.

It's 103 degrees out.

Lovely.

So far,
1 crash and burn.
1 elevated HR
1 leg cramps
2 syncope

It began less than 45 minutes ago.

I love my job, i love my job, i love my job, i love my job.

Fun.

How many calls will you take and dispatch on an average day?

Well like everything in EMS, it varies.

I average about 20 calls a day for 13 different departments.

Phone calls on the other hand.. eek! Everyone thinks their situation is an emergency. I am the channel master and decide otherwise. B)

Dispatched to a string tied around a child's foot yesterday...would that pass muster for you?

that's it????

so far I have two MVAs, seizure, chest pain, diff breathing, sickness, another seizure, two assaults, and that's just for one city. Started 2 hours ago, and I'm guessing by the end of the night we will get at least one stabbing and one shooting, along with all the other sick patients. great way to start a weekend.

and this is night one of 6 straight for me, fortunately I have my laptop to help keep me sane (well relatively speaking anyway)

good luck with the night, and if you get bored, IM me

Oh, was that "On Shift" supposed to be "Oh, S%$T"?B)

I did standby for the same sort of event; I was lucky and only had a few crash & burns, some cases of elevated HR/BP beyond what is expected from that sort of event, a couple sever hyponaetramia and one severe dehydration.

Brown and Oz are avaliable in thier big red and yellow helicopter should you require them :D

Could have used you earlier for a CVA and a Motorcycle VS 18 wheeler.
Used the blue and orange one instead.

So what was the final tally on the day?

Just for the heck of it, Stephanie; did any one of the calls you ran hit a hot button in you? I'm talking emotionally, psychically, morally, spiritually, whatever. Could be anything in the realm of experiencing the call as other than a superb Technician.

Just askin'!
