Oh, I'm sick. It all started as that funny little tickle, you all know it. Then came the cough. Then the stuffy nose. Eyes hurt. Fever. Back aches from all the coughing.

I am such a wimp when I am sick. Anybody else I am like, "toughen up, you'll be fine, its just a cold"

BUT THIS IS MEEEEEEEE!!!!!!!!!!!

My son told me he understands I think I am dieng, but could I be quieter about it, he is watching TV :o  :o :P :D   I love that boy.

But I have my next clinical rotation in some 82 hours from now and I HAVE TO BE BETTER!!!!!! But I might actually die before then!!!!!

So what kind of OTC meds are good for someone who, on top of dieing from a cold, just might be "with child" again. (nope, haven't asked the DR to write the order for THAT test yet either, but its either that or I really am DIEING!!!!?

Please, don't send flowers to my funeral. Cash will be fine. Not checks. Cash. Thats all my son wants these days, just the green stuff.

Excuse me, while I go evacuate some green stuff from my nose.

I doubt you are dying..

For my flu I took...

Nothing...

At all.

I tried pedialyte as a plan to avoid drying out like a plant w/out water. It is horrible. Flavored saline. Yuckers.

I tried Mucinex for the coughing, but that just made me violently ill...

It just went away after I ate some of my grandmother embalmed eggs, err I mean Pickled Eggs. The extreme vinegar smell must have killed the germs. :P

I'm so sorry, I was right where you are 2 weeks ago, only it was my husband telling me to die a little more quietly.

Go to dr if you think you might be preggers, there's nothing OTC you can take safely. And I wouldn't take any brand new drugs on the market either, the FDA hasn't been too sharp lately.

Rest, fluids you know the drill.

What about credit cards? I bet your son would like those too...

I'm 33 weeks pregnant. I fought the cough, runny nose thing for about 2 months thinking I couldnt take anything. I ended up with bronchitis and a sinus infection and on antibitiotics. My OB told me I could take Robitussin DM, Nyquil that kinda thing. However if you think you might be Pregnant I would get into the doctor ASAP. They will be able to tell you for sure what you can take. Good luck :)

RIP

Speaking of cold remedies... Has anyone used Airborne? I have heard it really works but I havent looked into it.

I like good ole Sudafed.

Ok, feeling MUCH better! Still have this stupid cough, but the fever is gone, and so is that 280+lb person that was tap dancing on my brain.

Nice thing about working in an ER. I went into work, all coughing and dying. Had one of the Nurses check my temp. Went to the Dr said "cough, hack, gag, cough, cough....hey Dr. my temp is 103, will you take a look at me?..... more coughing, gaging ect"

Got the RX and a note for the rest of the day off and the next one too. I think I have slept 47 of the last 50 hours.

My son was an absolute ANGEL!!!! He kept coming in and feeling my forehead. He'd pull my covers back up over me (forget the fact I was sweating gallons), bring me a glass of water/tea/milk/sprite, basically whatever Dr. 6 year old felt I needed right then, and then he'd say Yep, your really sick, You just go back to sleep and I will go back to playing games. This was about every hour or so.

But, feeling better now and I think he is wishing I was still in bed. Now he has to take a bath AND wash his hair

LMAO!!!

Glad you're feeling better! :)

Glad to hear that you are feeling better.:)

I am one that hates being sick anymore and it seems like I am always sick. Knock on wood I haven't been to bad this year just a mild cold that went through our nursing class. Now if only I didn't have a headache or this mild migraine that I have I would be outside enjoying the sun shine. Anyways glad you are feeling better.

It is my spring break this week and I have been sick everyday... Except one when I went out and then promptly became ill again. This always happens when I have time off of school! And I don't mean just a little runny nose sick... I'm talking get up, throw up, lay down, throw up, eat something, throw up, drink something, throw up, lay there, throw up, change the channel, throw up.... Do you get the idea? Not fun for me... Thankfully PArescueEMT was there to call me and keep me entertained!

I used to use it all the time when I was travelling frequently. I don't think it does much good as a "remedy", but its great as a preventative. I get sick fairly easily when I'm on any flight longer than an hour or too, but when I took Airborne, it seemed to happen less often.

Essentially, its like Alka Seltzer...tablet that you drop in water and makes a carbonated "beverage". Its kinda unpleasant looking because there's some herbal supplements in it, so they tend to float up with the bubbles. Doesn't taste too bad...I used the lemon-lime flavor, and while it had a bit of an herbal flavor to it, it wasn't unpleasant.
