(CBS 3) LANGHORNE One police officer died and three individuals injured after a shooting inside a Bucks County hospital Thursday evening.

Officials say Robert Floor of Bedminster was in police custody for a D.U.I. incident. He was getting a blood test when he got into a fight with an officer in the emergency room of St. Mary’s Medical Center in Middletown Township around 6:30 p.m.

At some point during the altercation, Floor grabbed the officer’s .357 Magnum and allegedly fired five shots which hit two police officers and a medical technician.

Another police officer at the scene shot Floor in the hand during the incident.

According to authorities, Floor then fled the scene initiating a massive police manhunt in the heavily wooded area surrounding the hospital. Subsequently, the hospital was locked down during the search.

The S.W.A.T. team quickly located Floor, who was hiding in a vehicle on the roof of a nearby parking garage. Officers surrounded the vehicle and apprehended the wounded suspect.

“One of the officers has in fact been pronounced dead, the other officer was shot in the chest, he will recover, and the third employee was shot as well and he is expected to recover,” stated Bucks Count D.A. Diane Gibbons.

All have now been identified.

Both officers were of a small force with 4 fulltime officers. The force had half its' fulltimers shot.

1 officer was shot in the head, the other in the chest. The one shot in the chest will recover, presumbably saved by a ballistic vest.

It is unclear where the ED Tech was shot, but news states he will recover as well.

When I saw this on the 11pm news last night, I was trying to identify the ED from the aerial pictures, all they said in the teasers for the news was gunman shoots up local ER."

I'd expect this in Philadelphia. Not in Suburban Bucks County.

In the City of Philadelphia, All prisoners in the ED are accompined by 2 officers, with guns, mace, badges, cuffs, etc.

Outside the city, a DUI suspect like this will often be brought in by a single officer for the blood work required by law.

All news reports say the perpetrator was not cuffed. I don't know what happened, but I have to assume that he was uncuffed for the blood draw, but came in to ED in cuffs.

My worry is that many local ER's will spend lots of money on metal detectors, while forgetting that this gun would have been there no matter what, as you can't stop a cop from carring while on duty.

I just got this in my officer.com email. The part that hacks me off the most is DWI/DUI is a misdemeanor until your third ofense in most places. So chances are an officer is dead over a ticket more or less.

And as usual rather than blame the suspect for killing a cop and wounding another cop and a Tech somone will blame the officer for alowing the suspect to obtain his gun.

The dirtbag will have a trial and a chance to have lawyers argue that the officer was responsible somehow. They will attack the credibility of all around while painting the picture of the suspect being the poor little victim.

AND the prt that will really have me hacked is when someone will say " Didn't the Tech look for scene safety?" Watch, it will pop up somewhere.

The end result must be clear, when this perp is convicted, he must be sentenced to the death penalty...this is EXACTLY the kind of scum that has no regard for others (DWI) and then actually thinks is will turn out OK if he takes an officer's weapon and uses it!

I thought of this too.

As I said.... lots of hospitals are going to spend lots of money on metal detectors to keep guns out of the ED, but the cops will still have them!

I'm curious if the Cop's vest stopped the bullet, too. (He was shot with his OWN GUN, so he should have had a vest to stop his OWN gun).

New info is that the offender stood over the officer he killed and said "Die pig."

And yes, the DA is going for a capital case, and MUST. I'm just a little dissapointed the guy didn't try to "resist arrest." Would have saved a costly and prolonged legal battle.
