Hi all, I want to obtain my national registry and I have a query. Can I get my Paramedic qualification recognised and obtain registry or do I have to apply to sit the national reg exam? Can I sit this exam having studied and worked outside the US? Also, my current level would equate roughly as an EMT-I in the US.

To receive NR certification you have to take the exam and have an approved practicals within the past 12 months. If you feel confident after reading though the NR site that you can challenge the test that is an option (you are not required to take a prep class), but the practicals will still need to have been in the past 12 months. Also, you will need to obtain the permission of the state EMS agency to complete your on-line registration application with NR. If you have a location in the US you are considering it would be best to contact the Regional Council for EMS in that area and they would have more answers for your specific situation and current certification level.
