One thing I learned the hard way.... Your health(mental and physical)> job, money, and whatever else needs to happen. If you can't function what good is that to anybody?

OP, like NysEms said, I don't get attached to patients. Doesn't mean that I'm not compassionate but at the end of the day I don't know these people nor have I had any prior/ post interaction with them. Sounds callous and it probably is, but I do care for my patients. I just don't get personally attached.

That is so very true Qulevrius. I've had patients that I've felt bad for but this lady just got to a spot in my heart that I didn't realize I had for patients at work.
