Non Invasive Assessment Tools

I've recently picked up a part-time EMT position and would like some feedback regarding general non-invasive assessment tools used by EMS in general.

Are most of you, if not all of you, willing to learn/use any non-invasive assessment tools to dig further regarding pinpointing what exactly is going on with your patient?

For example, testing stroke using the FAST test is quick and fairly definitive, if there's any hesitation with findings, maybe dig deeper and test some of the cranial nerves to find more deficits. Please feel free to share any well-serving assessment methods beyond the education of EMS.
 
It's hard mainly because as a EMT where I'm from we don't have lifepaks and other equipment nesscary in order to dive into further depth as to wait is really going on.
 
Learning how to perform a complete history and physical is the foundation of all medicine.

The Bates Guide that @JPINFV linked is worth its weight in gold, well not literally as it is quit heavy.
 
I just got my Bates pocket guide in the mail yesterday from Amazon :) have yet to dig into it as I'm supposed to be studying my PHTLS textbook instead for my class this weekend lol
