So I googled where to get my NIMS cert in Arizona and nothing came up. Does anyone who took there NIMS in Arizona know where I could? I live in Scottsdale.

Does AZ requrie NIMS/ICS to be taken int he classroom?

You can take it online

Don't know what you really need, but FEMA recognizes the online course for C.E.R.T. and it is good for a tiny number pof credits at some colleges.
And it is free, you can do it in one evening, and print out whatever you want as resources. There is even a nice certif to print out if you pass.

ICS-100 is usually taken online, as is NIMS-700. 200 can be taken online, but if you want to go beyond that, you have to take the classroom version. ICS-300 and 400 are classroom only, but unless you're a senior officer, you're unlikely to need then.

Check the local fire academies, fire makes much more use of ICS than EMS, from my purely anecdotal experience.

Yeah, more people in the ring with firefighting.

Never a bad idea to learn too much upstream, just like taking anatomy and physiology, gives you some frame for your knowledge and an idea of whether you want to continue up the ladder.
The website I cited has other interesting if long and sometimes tedious classes. The ones about getting ready to deploy are sort of interesting.

"Need" is relative to your ability to handle hours and hours of death by powerpoint. :)

HAHAHA! Yeah!

The ESI onsline format is also a little tricky, I got most of the way through one course and had to start it over becuase I failed to understand how to let myself go to the john.

I did 100, 200, and 700 online and everybody takes it so you might as well just go that route

I have done 100, 200, 700 & 800. I took 300 also, but thats a classroom only class... and Im registered to take 400 next month which is also classroom only.

300 had some good information and was taught by TEEX at our county EOC. Was a fun three days .. thats for sure!
