Hi Everyone,

Semi new to this forum, but I've enjoyed reading posts so far.

Anyway, I am a sophomore in college recently certified as an EMT. I passed the NJ state exam last August and have been certified in NJ ever since. Within the last few months, I have also received reciprocity in Pennsylvania as well. Whenever I can, I ride with my local volley, but their call volume isn't too high-approximately 300ish calls a year. I'd love to pick up more shifts there in the hopes of getting more experience, but it is in my hometown, which is a hour away from where I live on campus, so coming home can be a hassle.

I am hoping to find someway to gain more experience while still in school and also gain a per deim EMT job for the summer. I have looked at squads around Rutgers (which is where I go), but their hourly requirements seem a bit high for a full time student's schedule. RUEMS also requires at least a year of BLS experience before applying for a position with them.

Do you guys have any ideas on how I would be able to gain experience while still attending school and also any good per diem positions for the summer?

MONOC hires EMTs for the summer to staff their EMS contract at the PNC Bank Arts Center. I think applications for that will be available by mid-April. Six Flags also hires for the summer.
