Just got my cert and wanting to make sue I cover all my bases for the best opportunity to start my career. I am only EMT-b but wanting to go paramedic and whatever I can do to continue my education. If anyone is bored and can shoot me some ideas on what is best for getting myself out there I would really appreciate it. Thanks and God bless.

1.. Stay Away from California

2. Get a job. And any extra certs you can.

3. Start medic.

Welcome to the forums.

Lol. Ya checking spelling and watching screaming baby don't mix. Thanks for the welcome, I left southern California years ago and now in southwest Florida. I definitely am trying to get all certs possible. Paramedic is my next on my list. Hate to not have a job first but such is life I guess. Lot of people looking for EMS jobs

Good job on getting your EMT cert. But dont say "Im Just an EMT"!!!!! you are perfectly capable of doing patient care! i had the same mind set when i first got hired on at my service, and to be honest with you, it makes you sound incompetent. you can save a life too. For me, it seems most pt care is BLS. Its only every once in a while that a paramedic can do more than what you will do, and i think most paramedics would agree with me. Yeah i too will go on to be a paramedic, but in the mean time, be proud of what you got, you are part of a family now.

Sincerely,
Ryan S.

Im happy as can be about getting my cert but it is my first and only one so far. My stating just an emt-b is due to the feeling of difficulty to get hired. I am patient and understand it takes a while to be hired. In the mean time I will be getting whatever schooling available to me. Good to see places like this to talk about it and feel part of a community before even getting hired.
