I live in AZ and am enrolled in an EMT-B class starting in Jan '10. I would love to hear guidance as the best way to approach all this. I would like to become a Paramedic and maybe continue on to be an RN... but right now just an EMT. My future goals are that once I get my EMT-B class done and past the test, get on with SWA and get 6mnth to a year of experience before I start Paramedic school.

Any advice on what to do, or how to do things better. Please feel free to let me know.

Take a look and education and training section, there have been post similar to this that may help. Take emt pass the test, then go for A&P, microbiology and that fun stuff. Experiance has been debated in the event of needing it before you start medic. Pass emt and enroll in medic and consider the above consideration.

go to paramedic school as soon as you can

Find out what book your program uses and get a head start on the chapters. Also if you don't understand something you read I highly suggest going on the web and finding out what the word means and what it pertains to. This got me through medic school.

There are 2 schools of thought about how soon you should go to medic school. One school says immediately after you get your EMT-B card. The other school says that you should get some experience as a basic before you move on. My choice is to gain some experience, but it's up to you.

Remember, there are all sorts of routes to get to your end point. Being an EMT is just one way. The important thing is to really be honest with yourself about how you like or don't like the work and all its stuff. Don't stick it out just because it'll get you to the next step. That'll save a whole lotta people a whole lotta hell, including you.

Ultimately, like for most writers, you do this because you have to (maybe because somebody has to!), not because you want to.

EMt school isn;t very hard. you get out of it what you put into it. Go to class, read the book, ask any questions you may havem and you will fo just fine. don't sweat it, Enjoy the class, as I thought it was a fairly fun class. (a large portion of our class was scenario oriented)

what school are you going through? I'm also lookin at starting in january at MCC
