Hey everyone, I start school for basic EMT in January, I’m a beginner and I don’t really know much about the human body/helping someone in an emergency. I know the basics like CPR and pulse points/super basic things. What’re some tips to help prepare for the course? 6 month course at a community college. Thank y’all!

Try to find out what book the course will be utilizing and see if you can get it ahead of time and start reading it.

EMT courses aren't highly technical. In my opinion, they're more social than academic -- e.g., hands-on practical exercises with people watching and instructors offering real-time commentary. If you've ever played organized sports, it's a little like your coach critiquing your performance in front of the team. Be open to that. Bring a sense of humor to class, pay attention and don't be a ****.

Do what DesertMedic suggested just to satisfy your curiosity. Beyond that, don't sweat it.
