If you can get on a department, yes in some cases.
 
The last prehospital offer I received was for a position as a PMA (paramedic assistant). The pay was 10.50 p/hr, I was already working as an ER Tech making 17.36 p/hr and seeing more patients in a day than I would in a year working the same number of hours as a PMA.
