I just registered for emt-b, classes begin in October. What can I do between now and then to prepare myself? I will be going to Jefferson university hospitals Jeffstat program, and will hopefully go onto to full paramedic licensure. Is anyone else in the Philadelphia area?

Pick up a good Anatomy and Physiology book (I like Marieb and Hoehn) and start reading it. Or, if you can, take it at a college level between now and then!

Take red crosses Emergency Responder course. It's the fundementals of an EMT. Everyone I know that took that class and moved on to EMT passed no problem.

read your textbook.

Why is everyone on the ARC's jock all of the sudden?

Congrats on being accepted. Like others said, read your book and get some A&P background if you can.

Get a good anatomy and physiology review.. whether it be taking a class or buying a review book. Knowing your terms and being able to apply them are essential in EMS. Be ready to study and spend a lot of time away from your friends and family

You will have all the stuff you need during class, no need to stress about it now, enjoy the time off, study hard when class starts. As already said, A&P is good to have. I think A&P should be an EMT prereq.

Start reading your text book now. Have it read all the way through by the time class starts trust me it will put you way way ahead.

Read, underline, highlight your textbook, make notes in it. Get a good A and P book, (even if its just a high school one, its a good start; and those quick laminated fold out guides to A and P that are like five dollars are useful too.) Notecards are a must in my view as well. Feel free to message me if y ou have any more questions or if you want to chat about your basic stuff. I just finished my basic and got NREMT with it and am in I85 class.
