Back on point:

Go to a university, get your undergrad with outstanding grades and the ability to take the MCAT or admissions test of your choice.

Don't think or try to make working in EMS anykind of "backdoor" or "shortcut" because it is neither of those. All of the physicians I know who started in EMS were outstanding candidates to start with.

More than working in a medical field your focus needs to be on academics and you must be all in from the start. Physician is not a fall back career.If you are testing the waters when everyone else is jumping in, you will be very behind.
