Well I just got done with emt school back in may also just took NREMT a little over a week ago took me 2 times to pass but I passed but I know to really get anywhere in this type of work you have to be a medic where before everyone wanted emt well not those same people are saying now all they want are medic's my officers at the dept are work at are telling me to go now (to medic school) but some of my close friends are telling me to wait you need to wait at least a year to get everything now plus I also kind of struggled in emt class that’s another reason why they are telling me to work so wanted to see what you guys and girls think on the matter all input would be great thanks

I think you need to learn the use of periods in a sentence structure. Seriously, you want to become a professional? English & grammar is one of the first steps. As well, alike my company and many other EMS; I evaluate on writing skills (yes, I make one document a scenario and they are judged on how well they can write).

Getting experience as an EMT or going straight through school is either a personal or maybe a state requirement. You can usually can do both. I am not surprised about there not being any EMT positions, as well many are finding the same about Paramedic positions as the numbers increase. You do stand a better chance of employment as a Paramedic than a EMT, as well as better pay and promotions.

Unless you are strictly dedicated to your area, I would suggest looking and talking with others.

p.s. double posting the same thing is not cool...

Well when I am writing something on a website I could care less about my sentence structure, if this was for a job or i was in my college year's i could understand, but i am lucky to already be on a dept and getting paid 16 plus an hour as a fire/emt so i have a job but i want to get on full-time

One should always care on their presentation and communication skills. This is how persons are first judged and evaluated as reflection upon their professionalism. There are many on EMS Forums that are employers or in the position of hiring.

Even though this is a website we all try to maintain professionalism, and if thats your attitude towards this forum I don't see you getting too many positive posts, as you have seen. I am not one to judge on grammar & spelling but I try my best to make it look like I put thought into my sentences. Secondly, to answer your question it seems by the way you described it, that you are struggling, so why don't you stick with your job for a year and let things cool off and fall into place.

Hold off on medic class until you have your BLS down. If you struggled in EMT class, you will struggle more in medic class.

Very smart advice.. Can't tackle a Dragon when you can't shew a fly....

usually the medic interview process for the program will not let you in until they deem you as being ready. you can try and if they let you in then go for it. but before you go to medic school take an A&P coarse and see if you understand the human body before you learn the advance techniques on how to fix it.

i suppose doing a search for the three hundred other threads about this exact topic is totally out of the question.

True. How are you expected to treat the critically sick and/or injured if you don't know your own language?
