My driving record is pretty bad. I made some bad decisions as a teen that I'm worried will affect my ability to get hired straight out of paramedic school. I have four hefty charges from a little more than three years ago (all at the same time) and I'm wondering at what point they will no longer be a hindrance. I finish my program in a year, and I'm really hoping I'll be able to find a job at that point.

The fact that there are countless people out there with the same certification and spotless driving records doesn't help you. I don't have a perfect record including an arrest for a DUI that was later dismissed and I work in EMS so it is possible.

If you have a DUI you are going to be hard pressed to find anyone that will hire you. Same with wet and reckless or plain reckless driving. All three were automatic disqualifiers when I got hired.

What offenses do you have if you don't mind me asking

That is why I chose to be a careful teenager. I knowing that my future is more important and not that far off. Rather than have 30 minutes of fun/not giving a :censored::censored::censored::censored:/trying to be cool that can screw up my future. I hope your able to get a job though. When the matter comes up just make it clear to them that your a different person now. You was a teenager before and made dumb decisions. They might sympathise with you!

I have two reckless and two speed competition. I know it's seven years for it to fall off your record completely in NC and three years for it to come off your personal insurance, but I don't know the timeframe for getting an EMS job

I know in SC when I applied for jobs, everyone wanted a 10yr driving record. If your record has those 4 charges on them it's gonna be tough. Especially if your competition has clean driving records.
