Hi folks,
I'm seriously considering starting down the road to becoming a paramedic, and am looking at different training programs. I'm interested in doing a one month intensive WEMT program and have looked at SOLO, WMI, and RMI. For significantly less money, however, I could do a one month EMT program with Mt. Nebo Training in Utah, and then do a WFR class after. I can't find any information about Mt. Nebo's quality or reputation, however.

Does anyone have any experience with Mt. Nebo Training, or know any EMTs who do?

Thanks.

Any particular reason you're looking at a WEMT class? Unless you're a park ranger or an Outward Bound employee, it's mostly useless.

I'm a climber, so at a minimum wfr training is useful for my own life and adventures. Beyond that I'm interested in SAR work, expeditions, wildland fire fighting, and other opportunities where being able to provide medical care in get he backcountry could be advantageous.

I recommend you stick with one of the big three (SOLO, WMI and WMA. Full disclosure: I'm a SOLO alum) or at least pick a provider that is a Wilderness Medical Society Partner or Affiliate.

There's no question that I'd do my WFR through SOLO, WMI, or WMA. Mt. Nebo only offers an EMT-B course. If no one knows anything about them, though, I'm inclined to just pay the extra money to go somewhere with a solid reputation.

I would suggest that you get your EMT-B then upgrade with your WFR. You will be able to get your WEMT that way.

Good advice with going with a training provider that is an affiliate with WMS. That is the golden standard.

I've been told to seek out EMT to WEMT bridge courses if that's a card I'd like to pursue, apparently WFR is not a very engaging class for the "already certified."
