Sarcasm off

So anyway, I have bronchitis, and for the past 3/4 months been hearing my pulse in my R ear that drives me out of my mind. (At first I thought it was from all the pain meds they had me on, but I've been off them since Xmas.) I figured I'd go to the clinic today and get them both knocked out. Bronchitis, easy a few rx's and I'm set. My ear not so easy. The doc I saw said he's only seen 2 cases of my symptoms and the result was a type of aneurysm behind the ear. Any of you hear of this? It's not emergent and I don't have to worry too much about dropping dead suddenly, but it will require surgery (ughhhh..not more  ) to fix. I swear, I've been healthier than a horse all my life and now I feel like I'm falling apart lol. ANyway we're going to see if the antibiotics I take clear it up, other wise I go to an ear specialist, and if he confirms the suspicion I have to go to a neurosurgeon....YAY!

I'm losing what's left of my mind.

Oh Crap, Jenn...that sucks.

Here let me share my "Great News" and you and I can "enjoy" it together.

I have been trying to have surgery on my knee. Theres a mass there. I appeared, seemingly overnight, and just keeps getting bigger as the weeks progress.

Stupid surgery has been rescheduled 4 times now. Finally got a date, went to the pre-op this morning. CANCELLED AGAIN!! Apparently, one of the meds I take, I have to be off of it for 14 days before surgery. Anesteisiologist says Sure I can still have it removed on Friday, but he won't be providing the Anesthesia...

DAMMIT!!

So, perhaps we should just both get drunk. That should make it all better!!:beerchug: :beerchug: :beerchug: :P :P

Hmm...seems like they should have picked up on th emed thing at pre-op...as for the pulse in the ear thing its new to me, but hey anything is possible...and hopefully if they do have to operate its will be a miminal procedure...but I am an optimist.

Wingnut,
if the doc hasn't seen a whole lot of this perhaps it might behoove you to research a little deeper on your own behalf...

hang in there

Did your doctor consider tinnitus? It is suggested to try the following to reduce the symptoms, you might want to give it a try and see if it helps, just in case:

-Cut back on or eliminate alcohol and beverages containing caffeine.

-Stop smoking and stop using smokeless tobacco products. Nicotine use makes tinnitus worse by reducing blood flow to the structures of the ear.

-Limit your use of aspirin, products containing aspirin, and other nonsteroidal anti-inflammatory drugs (NSAIDs) such as ibuprofen or naproxen.

-Exercise regularly. Exercise improves blood flow to the structures of the ear. However, avoid extended periods of exercise, such as bicycle riding, that keep your neck in a hyperextended position.

Either way, I'd definitely get a second opinion before surgery. Good luck!

Princess...I'm all for it, where when do we meet? :D DId you get the other problem you were having fixed too? Damn woman, we need to start a club. "Old enough to have to deal with BS things like this, but young enough to drink it away" ? LOL

I'm going to do some research. My little brats are sick and once I get them to bed I'll do some investigating of my own.

Rescue, I don't normally take those kind of meds, I exercise 4 days a week, and the smoking thing, well I'm working on that. But I will definitely look into that condition while I'm looking things up, I had never heard of it.

Thanks for the tips and the support. Hopefully I'll be able to resolve this without too much medical intervention. I'm a BAD patient.

May I join as well? I'm an orthopedic disaster.

Sorry to hear about your trouble. I'll be thinking of you.

All are welcome, margaritas are ready...:)

About the ear.. you are still on antibotics for the ear.... or bronchitis?.. Did they do a CT or how did they detect an aneuyrsm ?.. I know bad otitis intima can also cause this. I hope you do have an E.N.T. check this out..

Good luck,

heya Rid, yes I'm still on my Z-pack for the bronchitis, 4 days now and no change in the noise. I haven't had any testing yet, I'm going to a highly recommended E.N.T next Thursday. Hopefully he'll rule it out otherwise I'll have to get an MRA to confirm the problem. I've found about a hundred things on line about a hundred different conditions.
