Ok so this might be a stupid question but got to ask any ways. I am starting my PCP Course next year and just trying to prepare, by starting to read some of the text and get some of the things i need for my course.
My main question is, is a laptop helpful when it comes to the class. Or is it not needed at all??
Thanks alot

What would you use it for? You probably don't necessarily need a laptop but you may need some current software on a computer as a lot of programs do some work online now in addition to the classroom. It's is best to consult someone from your program.

I carry my laptop nearly everywhere and I do not attend a class without it since I use it to take notes. I type over 80 WPM which is a heck of a lot faster then I can scribble.

Make sure you ask first. Some instructors do not allow laptops in the classroom.

i guess you could use it for note taking if you like notes in your computer to print out later or make copies of or whatever. but ask the intructor first before you take it out in class. my instructors said they didnt mind but if we start going on line or doing something else beside paying attention in class that no more laptops would be allowed for the rest of the course. we were all good though. ^_^

Quick tip, Google Documents is a great way to share study guides.

Laptops are helpful for note taking. As others have mentioned, ask your instructor first.

If you want to save money and you are using a laptop primarily for class, buy a netbook instead. Much cheaper..only difference is a smaller screen and you will be saving about $200 as well.

[in regard to netbooks] ...but then I can't play Tropico when borded during lecture...

I used One Note all the way through college. I am now using Evernote on my iPad and Laptop. They are both excellent options.

Its all personal preference, I never tooks notes...at all. I found I learned better by just listening cloesly to the lectures with nothing in front of me....but thats just me.

Yeah, and me personally, even with a laptop in front of me and the fact I type at about 100 wpm... I learn best by handwriting notes. I will never read them again but it seems if I write it once... I remember it.
