Does anybody know anything about the Medical Reserve Corps(how it works or is in it?)...i have also been looking in to the Coast Guard Auxiliary anybody in it or was in?
I am in the Coast Guard Auxiliary and there is a medical arm of the AUX that supports the Coast Guard's medical services. You can find more information here: http://www.healthandsafety.auxnaco.org/. I am not an EMT-B yet, but plan to look into this more when I get certified.
now that sounds like a good idea..Im trying to sign up but the guy wont return my calls or E-mails lol..i signed up for the MRC and waiting on background check..thanks for your input
just trying to get into the CG Aux lol..and the go from there
Yea see im in vegas and all we have is Lake Mead but the CG will go all the way up to lake Havasu...i wish i lived on the coast for more exp..I have always wanted to go in the Navy or CG but i have stuff holding me back(nothing legal lol) so i thought this would be close enough..and i really want to be able to use my EMT skills..Here in Vegas they dont hire EMT-Bs only at the casinos but you have to have exp lol
Actually CAP is involved in a larger percentage of search and rescue missions than the USCGA, even in coastal areas.I always wanted to be in the Navy or CG too, but couldn't because of a bad shoulder that DQ'd me. So the CG Aux is a good alternative. As USAFmedic45 said, there is also CAP. They are probably more active in landlocked areas so you might want to look into that if the CG Aux doesn't work out.
Yes, you do. All states have CAP wings and most have numerous squadrons (for example, the Indianapolis area alone has four or five senior squadrons and several cadet squadrons). The Nevada Wing and the Las Vegas squadrons are actually fairly busy. Good folks all around and I know several of them quite well.I dunno if we have CAP here never really looked into it so don't know much about it..yea I was DQ because I had a nasal polyp it went away after a small steroid treatment but they said I still had to wait a year incase it came back but I ended up going to EMT school and forgot all about it lol
