So a prospective employer tried to look me up on the Ma oems web site and it comes back as no results. I passed my practical and written test about a month ago and have my state issued wallet card. But im not on the registry? Its really screwing things up for me. Anyone here know of anything that could be causing this?

Yes, its simple. OEMS is understaffed and doesn"t update the web database often, or ever. Your card acts as verification of state certification and if your employer is looking for proof they can call or email oems. Try recent@DPH.state.ma.us

Good luck!

I am not licensed in MA but... I am in different areas. Some places only update their registries a few times a year. If you want to get to the bottom of it contact OEMS directly as soon as you can.

If it helps the woman at OEMS, Fran retired July 1st. As of June 1st they had not hired someone yet. She worked there for 30 years or so. She had told us and our instructors that she expected for the first 6 months everything would be moving slow...for what its worth

*edited for spelling* :)

Getting someone from OEMS on the phone is a pain, but not as bad as getting an email response.

MA OEMS is :censored::censored::censored::censored:ed up, took a long time to get my practical results in (I PASSED!)

The website is terrible, it's done that to me more than once when I punched in my number to check on my CEUs. Have him call.

What's wrong with them? Doesn't your National Registry card work?

Not in Massachusetts. Merely having your NR card allows you take the MA written and practical exam. An out of state card allows you to skip the practical.

I think federal law requires them to accept it.

Which federal law would that be?

Hint: No such law exists.

There are a few states that do not accept it without further testing. Stupid for sure, but that is the way it is.

Doesn't the federal government require NREMT for anyone operating in an EMS capacity on federal lands, like USFS, BLM, etc?

Sure, but that's federal lands.

There is nothing requiring a state to accept or even recognize the NREMT.

I think PA is another one, but I could be wrong.
