Here I am, two weeks before medic class starts and have a distal fracture of fibula (stupid potholes).

My first challenge, learning to hobble into class with a computer and all these books.

For the first week of my EMT class I was still on double crutches for a torn MCL.
& Only after the first month of classes was I able to take off the damned full leg brace that went from like, mid-thigh to mid-shin.

That was fun :D

Almost 30 years ago, I broke the opposite leg (in three places) and spent an entire MICHIGAN winter on cast/crutches. That was fun learning to navigate on snow and ice.

On the other hand, I have plenty of spare time with my foot up in the air and orthopedic appointments to get my first assignments done for school and spend some time on this board.

I'd think it would be easier to navigate ice on crutches if they were properly equipped with spikes on the end. Lol!

Sent from a small, handheld electronic device that somehow manages to consume vast amounts of my time. Also know as a smart phone.

Dude...i had to do the same my entire junior year in a brace that went from my hip to ankle.

Michigan winter and crutches dont mix lol

I was stationed at the Selfridge ANG Base outside of Detroit. November through February in the long-leg cast (the older plaster version) and then a short leg cast from February through part of April in a short-leg version of plaster cast.

I seriously debated the ice picks. My office had linoleum floors and the first thing that ice/snow packed crutch tips want to do is go sliding. :P
