Trying to figure something out for a work based industrial squad. I know there is CPR/AED and basic first aid training (which I think is 3 hours)- I live in NJ BTW. Is the next level of training first responder- or is there an advanced first aid level class somewhere in between basic and FR?

Not sure if the same in NJ, but here in CA:

CPR/AED/First Aid, then First Responder(with National Registry available), then EMT, etc.

Basic First Aid
Public Safety First Aid
First Responder / EMR
EMT
AEMT
Paramedic

The only recognized ones are First Responder, EMT, AEMT and Paramedic.

Everything else is like a "Here you go, you're 'certified' to do what you could always legally do anyhow!"

The only levels the State certifies right now are EMT and Paramedic. New Jersey has no certification for First Responders. But there are a number of First Responder courses, and I think if the new EMS act passes, we will have EMR>EMT>Paramedic.

First Responder is basically the same as what used to be called Advanced First Aid. Of course, different groups offer all sorts of first aid courses and levels. But a first responder course is good, basic stuff whether you plan to become an EMT+ someday in he future or not.
