I hear that students get killed in the cardiology and pharmacology sections of the paramedic program. So I started to read up on drugs and cardiology.

I was wondering if someone could show me where I could learn the art of placing/interpreting an EKG? I don't have much money so any free sites or free resources would be very helpful!

PS I searched the forums for this topic so as I don't post a thread topic that already exists. I didn't find one but I may have searched wrong D:

Anything helps and thanks!

Let me google that for you..

http://lmgtfy.com/?q=ECG+strip+practice

Take your ACLS pre test, review your Paramedic books to get the ball rolling and theres plenty of free info out there Google is your best friend.

I actually did google it XD

The sites were about refining and practicing EKG skills and not so much about learning the basics and such

Also I always do the "let me google that for you" on my friends and now I know how it feels to be on the receiving side of it haha

Anyways thank you :) the second link is perfect for a starting point!

a starting point, your medic book text in cardiology will give you the basics. a lot of youtube videos. and a ton of sites. once you get a specific pattern down of the way to read it. its all about looking at every ECG strip and applying it.

Just remember
Rate
Regular or Irregular
P waves?
QRS for Every P, P for every QRS.
PR interval length,

that should get you started on the basics

Basic arrhythmias by walraven.

Rapid interpretation of EKGs by Dale Dubin. Awesome books. I think it's 30 bucks.

I didn't find Walraven to be particularly helpful, however Dubin was worth the read. It helped with my initial understanding.

The Dubin book for sure. Like DEmedic said use this book as your base knowledge, then use your programs cardiology book for adding layers
