If I could get any busier I'd be surprised. I hope that all of you are well.
At our department business meeting last night, those of us taking the Firefighter II mods, received our results for MOD C. I passed, and have passed all three mods.
Due to a clerical error on the part of our chief, however, the hazmat portion of Mod C wasn't included in our exam, so we will be taking a hazmat exam on June 11th, and then we'll finally be finished.
I'm not sure any of the study guides I posted were being used....but I will eventually post a MOD C study guide, including hazmat.
I am considering applying for a full time dispatcher position with the ambulance service for the hospital I already work at. I'm weighing my options right now. Although I get virtually no patient contact on the cardiac floor (I am a unit secretary/EKG monitor tech), job security really isn't an issue with the full time position I hold now. I've already submitted the initial application, but I'm not sure if I will proceed or not with this. My thinking on it was it would get me one step closer to actually being able to work as an EMT. For a year and a half now, I've attempted to secure employment as a basic, to no avail, there was just no need for basics, not even on a PRN basis, in my community. I'm thankful for the volunteer fire department that took me on a year ago. There I get to practice my skills on the occasional medical call, and learned some new skills as a firefighter. Keeping up on CE's is also a nice benefit. My association with the volunteer department, along with being an employee at Provena, put me in a position to participate in EMS classes at no cost to me whatsoever, other than my time. You can't shake a stick at that deal.
Other than that, we've been busy with spring cleaning and gardening, the occasional fire call, and our full time jobs, plus considering taking a class at the community college this summer.
Now that I have thoroughly bored you all to tears I'll close this post. Take care everyone. I wish you all a super day, a great weekend, and many blessings!
