I had a few questions on the life of a Paramedic. I am going to be receiving my Paramedic AA degree soon and I was wondering about A) If anyone is aware of the job outlook in San Diego currently, and B) I have a DUI, I'm 22 and I got it when I was 20 and got the bare minimum sentence and I was told it could be in issue but I wanted to know how much of one..... Also the same questions about being an ER tech. Thanks in advance!

I have a DUI
Are you serious? Have you tried searching the forums? Did you not notice this when you were in school getting a degree in paramedicine? Did people try to give you hope by saying "you don't know until you try" and "I know this one guy..."

I think you'll be insurable after 7+ years, or something like that. You've only had it for 2 years.

Sorry to be blunt, but having a DUI/DWI is pretty much a career ender for EMS, and you've wasted time and money if you've been going to school for this.

Be realistic with yourself.

ER Tech is potentially doable, but those positions can be hard to come by.

In Cali with a recent DUI, don't waste your time looking for an ambulance job.

Your time in CA may be on hold...but if you are dedicated enough to have sought a degree as opposed to the medic mills...(congrats by the way)....there are other opportunities in many other states.

If your goal is to be a medic, time to start searching where to move to...CA isn't it.

Exactly. I live in Texas and work with a medic who got a dui a few years before being hired.
