If Im recalling the right story, I think it had something to do with a murder of a young girl who had signed up for a myspace account, and had made plans to meet a guy.

Now that I'm a responsible teacher I find myself going back through all my posts two or three times to make sure I don't offend anyone.

(See, this sentence was going to be really funny, but now I have to be PC).

Google is just too good these days. Have you signed up for Google Alerts so you get an email whenever your name appears in a new google search? That's when you know the internet (funny word)... I mean police have gone too far.

perhaps you should try typing in key words to see how closely National Intellegence (and let's not forget TIPS) are doing their job(s) ?

Maybe they were just sick and tired of myspace causing browser crashes.

Can you install Firefox and use it instead? You don't need administrator privs to do it (usually)

If it's a Windows machine, there are probably very easy ways around it.

And myspace is evil.

Well..... I've heard of folks using some of the free proxy servers....

A proxy server is another web server that is used to redirect communications to and from your computer. Instead of connecting directly to a website from your computer, your computer connects to a proxy server, and the proxy server connects to the website. That way, the website you're viewing thinks the proxy server is viewing it, not you. This can be used to anonymize your activities on the website you're connecting to, from their end, because they have no record of your computer connecting to their site. It may also be possible to use a proxy server to connect to a site that's been blocked on your end, because you're not connecting to the site directly. I am lost here. Could you explain who the "Internet Police" are? & the reasoning behind removing Myspace.com?

The people in charge of controlling private networks i.e. the internet police.

They removed Myspace so the station personnel could not use it, i.e. block it with a password, like blocking porn.

Exactly...

The reasoning, from what I can tell, is a combination of some "drug related images" on sites that are being viewed, as well as someone hacking the President's password and putting some form of, um, Adult material as her wallpaper (since many members dislike her, the list is long as to who could have done it).

So, we are getting by.... www.myspaceproxy.com seems to work for us, for now.... then we will find another proxy site. The problem is - not everything works through a proxy connection... so you don't get quite the same experience.
