This may be a rather strange question for all the Hoosier EMS folks but here goes. Do you live/work in a county that does not have paramedic service? I was somewhat shocked to hear that some counties do not have any form of ALS (AEMT, EMT-I, EMT-P). I'm not trying to argue but just curious what counties do not have paramedics. If you're willing to answer I appreciate the feedback also if you do not have paramedic service what level of care is available?

I would venture to guess that the areas without ALS are primarily rural with relatively low populations. (Not that they don't deserve ALS, too!) Marion County/Indianapolis is ALS (paramedic level), as well as all of the counties surrounding it.

That's the bit of info I have; I've heard there's some counties that are close to Ripley Co. that do not have any ALS what so ever. I'm trying to get some specifics but this will probably be a rather huge challenge. Thanks for your input!

Yeah, there are still a few around. The more common issue is one of counties with medics who have no business providing ALS care.
