Hall Ambulance or Liberty Ambulance in Kern County.

I would love liberty and I am going to call Monday'. Bit of a drive but be worth it

Your school doesn't set you up with a clinical site?

I got my clinicals done at Long Beach memorial. For internship I was going to ride with shaeffer but they just went out of business so there looking for me also but so far haven't gotten anything

i would not recommend orange or la counties their scopes are small. which i think most here would agree on.

Last I heard, AMR Santa Barbara was paying people to do their internships there if they signed a contract to work as a medic there after you got your paramedic licence. It's not a terrible place to work, but it's still AMR.

This is true.. well as of a year ago I knew they were.

they are still doing paid interships: pay is 16.97-20.06/hr based on shift with a 2 year contract

Is this internship a California thing? Never heard of anything like that here in Wisconsin. Just clinicals and then you're ready to work.

i assume its an amr thing, cause as usually they're stupid short on medics.

my experience is cali is always over saturated with emt's and always short on medics which is possibly why santa barbara is doing this. amr also sponsors it's employees to go through their own medic program with a signed 3 year contract

Who does our school have contracts with? That’s usually a limiting factor.

Some schools make you find a preceptor somewhere some are contracted

Right. But (I’d imagine) there has to be a contract in place between the school and the service before a student rides out. Some schools only contract with certain services. Some services only deal with certain schools.

Would stink to go through all the legwork to find a paramedic who will take you just to have it blocked by one or the other on the back end.

As far as I understand it’s the later. My instructors atleast told me their other campus’ have you do all the legwork and everything of the sort for internship. Where as the one I’m at they tell you where you’re going and that’s that.

I actually sent a email and called about that. Hoping to hear back soon.

Ummmm...Field Internship is NOT “an AMR thing”...it’s required as part of the program. How can you NOT have Paramedic students do a field internship, just clinicals?

I think they were speaking about the paid internship.

yes about AMR. they will hire you as an EMT, and let you do your medic internship while working, in return you sign a contract to work there as a medic.

I wouldn't do a non-911 provider. You wont get nearly as many calls, and it's not conducive to if you become a 911 provider. I saw on their Instagram that Lynch in Orange County was doing internships. This poor sole probably had to do 100 shifts to get his 40 ALS contacts.
